FDR Social Disciplinary Center

East River Social Disciplinary Center follows the design intent of a humanistic approach towards the punitive prison typology. The directive of the prison, philosophically and architecturally, should improve the quality of human discipline to redirect and to rehabilitate. This project aims to achieve this by enforcing collaboration between the correctional officer and the inmate, enhancing the standard quality of living cells, and integrating inmate rehabilitative programs. Through architectural qualities of contemporary time, the new typology of prison rises in the middle of the East River.
